About Me

The first thing you will notice about this page is that I do not mention much personal information. This is mainly because I wish to preserve a fair amount of my privacy online. I can tell you that my name is Justin, and that I am twenty-four years old. I have graduated from Acadia University, with a bachelor of computer science with specialization in software design (BCSS). Acadia is located in the small, scenic town of Wolfville, Nova Scotia. Despite being a small, scenic town, Acadia is about the only exciting thing that is happening in this little corner of the world.

At the moment, I am currently working for International Business Machines Canada (IBM Canada). I work on the DB2 software product, mainly in platform development.

I have numerous interests, including healthy games of squash, basketball, and biking. A programmer by nature, I do spend a fair amount of time actually programming, as well as coding websites for myself, or for my group of friends (see Minions4.net Other things I do is play video games. I am an avid gamer, despite the fact that I am not actually very good at video games. Some of the games I play are listed below:

All of this is really nothing more than an elaborate scheme to hide the truth about me: I am a geek. There is simply no way around it. I found things like the ThinkGeek LED Binary clock really cool. I spend my time playing video games. I take pleasure in getting my programs to work the way I want them to. In fact, I take pleasure in programming. I happen to do most of my programming in Linux, using the Vim text editor (Vim == Vi improved). I hang around web pages like Fark.com and Slashdot. Most telling of all though, is the fact that I run around the internet pricing computers for fun. Sometimes I try and price them to what I would use them for, other times, I try to drive the price up as high as it can go. This includes up to $12,000 (Canadian) for a laptop for personal use; up to $20,000 (Canadian) for an Apple desktop.

Speaking of things Canadian, I am indeed, Canadian. I am very proud of being Canadian, as there are many, many things for which Canadians are responsible for inventing. For all those who think that nothing good can come out of Canada, I give you the details on my favourite (even if doomed) Canadian invention: The Avro Arrow. Here is an airplane that, although it flew only a few times, approached Mach 2 (twice the speed of sound) on its first flight, and this with under-powered engines. This was done in 1958, long before the US SR-71 "Blackbird" took to the skies. Just a little bit of history for you.

About this site

The site these pages are hosted off of Minions4.net which itself is owned by me. The designs are all my own, though some colours (like those of the links) are stolen from other places, in this case, the Greymatter website.

I make every effort to adhere to the standards set out by the World Wide Web Consortium. As such, these pages should work on just about every major browser out there, except for Internet Explorer, which blatantly disregards standards. Why do I use standards on this site you ask? Well, simply because in the future, when all browsers are standards-compliance, this page will still work quite well. It will also work on any new browsers that may be released in the future.
